Eligibility: To be considered eligible for appointment to the NGC Board, a candidate must be deemed in good standing with NSGIC through a formal partnership (e.g., state representation, business partner, retired member, partner organization liaison, and/or industry professional) and agree to serve if appointed. Additionally, the candidate must not be currently serving as a Director on the NSGIC Board.
Term: Each Director shall serve a two-year term with three (3) Directors elected in odd-numbered years, and three (3) Directors elected in even-numbered years. Directors shall be eligible for re-appointment up to three (3) consecutive terms.
Process and Timeline: Once nominations are received, the NGC Board will confirm with the nominees their willingness to serve and collect applicable support documents as requested by the NGC Board (e.g., resumes, CVs, etc.).
The board will review the confirmed nominations and conduct interviews with selected nominated candidates that match the needs of NGC. The NGC Board will make their selected appointments and notify all candidates of the Board’s decisions and then notify the NSGIC Board and Community of the final appointments by December 15th of the calendar year.
New Board Director terms will begin on January 1st of each year.
2025 Board Nominations Are Now Closed. Nominations will reopen in September 2026.
Self-Nomination
An individual directly requests to be considered as a candidate for a particular position or opportunity within NGC without being nominated by someone else.
Membership Nomination/Peer Nomination
Individuals are nominated by their NSGIC peers and fellow members for a particular position or opportunity within NGC.
Executive Leadership Nomination
The NSGIC Executive Committee or leadership team nominates an individual(s) for a particular position or opportunity within NGC.
Committee/Working Group Nomination
NSGIC Committee/Working Group selects and nominates a candidate for a particular position or opportunity within NGC.
External Nomination
Individuals or partner organizations with a formal agreement with NSGIC in place nominate an individual outside of membership for a particular position or opportunity within NGC.
NGC Board Nomination
Nomination of candidates by internal NGC Board Directors for a particular position or opportunity within NGC.
